QUALIFIED ACCOUNTANT – PERSHORE

Crowthers Chartered Accountants are a firm of accountants with offices in Pershore, Cheltenham, Ledbury and Twyning.   We specialise in working for owner-managed and family-run businesses.  We have grown rapidly over the last few years due to the excellent quality of service we offer our clients which is testament to our dedicated, hardworking and passionate team.  

Crowthers has a team approaching 40 staff across the 4 offices.  We are very focussed on building and retaining our amazing team, seeking to promote from within which is shown by the fact that many of our directors are home grown talent. 

We are currently looking for a dynamic and hardworking individual that is a qualified accountant (either ACA or ACCA) with practice experience.  This individual will join our team in Pershore, which looks after a portfolio of both large and small companies, meaning the role will be varied and diverse. 

The role

The full-time role will involve preparation of client accounts, VAT returns and tax computations including statutory and management accounts, corporation tax, partnership tax and personal tax computations.

Experience with any cloud accounting software packages such as Xero, KashFlow or QuickBooks is desirable as well as knowledge of Sage.

Our internal systems include Iris, MyWorkPapers and Practice Engine and familiarity with these would be advantageous.

This position may require some travelling to clients so a driving licence and access to your own vehicle are required.

The individual

The candidate must be a qualified accountant with either ACA or ACCA qualification.

The ideal candidate will be professional and outgoing and able to deliver an exceptionally high level of client service.

The individual should also have the following qualities:

  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Good IT skills, particularly Word and Excel.
  • Dedicated, enthusiastic, flexible and keen to learn.

Location

The role will be based in our Pershore office, although there will be occasional work in our other offices in Cheltenham, Ledbury and Twyning.

SIXTH FORM AND COLLEGE LEAVERS – TRAINEE ACCOUNTANT – LEDBURY

We are currently looking for an ambitious school or college leaver with excellent A-level results or equivalent qualification to join our growing accounts team in our Ledbury office.

The role

The full-time role will involve bookkeeping and the preparation of client management accounts including processing invoices, reconciling bank accounts and maintaining clients accounting records.

The role will develop towards the preparation of statutory and management accounts, VAT returns and tax returns. 

Training on cloud based accountancy software packages such as Xero and Kashflow will be provided as well as our professional accounting software.

We are offering the opportunity to train for professional accountancy qualifications which will be offered as part of the salary and training package. Study leave will be provided for the AAT examinations and we will cover all the costs for the first attempt at any of the papers. 

AAT is a recognised qualification for accountants and bookkeepers and is a great stepping stone to training as a Chartered Accountant.

R&D REPORT WRITER – CHELTENHAM

Crowthers Chartered Accountants are looking for a tech-minded report writer to join our R&D tax relief team. 

We are a firm of accountants with offices in Pershore, Cheltenham, Ledbury and Twyning.   We specialise in working for owner-managed and family-run businesses.  We have grown rapidly over the last few years due to the excellent quality of service we offer our clients which is testament to our dedicated, hardworking and passionate team. 

Crowthers has a team approaching 40 staff across the 4 offices.  We are very focussed on building and retaining our amazing team, seeking to promote from within which is shown by the fact that many of our directors are home grown talent.

Crowthers have a busy team specialising in the preparation of R&D tax relief claims.  We prepare claims for companies in a broad range of industries including engineering, manufacturing, food and drink, software, agriculture and horticulture, beauty and cosmetics etc.  As part of the claims process, we submit a report to HM Revenue and Customs to outline the technical work that the client has carried out. The team is led by Sara Crowther, our Tax Director, who has over 14 years’ experience in the R&D tax relief field. 

 In the role, you will help our clients with the preparation of the R&D tax relief claims, with a focus on the report writing aspects. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Onsite visits, video calls and telephone calls with clients to gather information about R&D activities;
  • Preparing detailed reports for HM Revenue and Customs to support the claim for R&D tax relief;
  • Build and maintain relationships with clients;
  • Providing an exceptional level of client service as this is a key aspect of the Crowthers R&D offering;
  • Carrying out the work within agreed timescales and budgets;
  • Keeping up to date with changes in R&D tax legislation and HM Revenue and Customs guidance and identify clients impacted by any changes;
  • Producing technical briefings and marketing material as required; and
  • Traveling to meet clients as required (Driving licence is essential).

We are looking for the right person to join our team and therefore, we do not require applicants to have previous exposure to R&D tax relief claims as we will provide training, although prior experience in R&D would be beneficial.

Qualifications and skills:

  • University degree.
  • Excellent written skills and experience of report writing.
  • Technology-oriented (Do you have a habit of looking into how technologies are built, be it types of watch movements, printed cladding or the newest software on the market?).
  • Strong interpersonal skills (this role will involve working closely with our clients and the team).
  • Good I.T. skills, particularly Word and Excel.
  • Strong analytical skills.
  • Commercially aware.
  • Dedicated, enthusiastic, flexible and keen to learn.
  • Willingness to travel and occasionally work long hours to meet deadlines.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

The role will be based in our Cheltenham office although we do offer hybrid working once training has been completed.

The remuneration Package will be highly competitive based on qualifications and experience.
